Skin films are an ideal application for meat or seafood packaging, allowing the product to be clearly seen by the consumer for ease of choice. The product rests on a piece of paperboard or preformed tray and is covered by a thin film of transparent sheet film.
The skin film is softened by heat and draped over the product on the card or tray, bonding to the heat-seal coating. Vacuum can be used to create a firm fit over the product.
Although this product resembles a blister pack, the plastic cover is formed over the product on the line rather than using a pre-formed packaging, allowing consumers clear choice.
